The Norgen Blood Genomic DNA Isolation Kits are designed for the rapid preparation of high-quality genomic DNA from whole blood, plasma and serum samples. Purification is based on spin column chromatography using a silicon carbide resin as the separation matrix. This resin binds DNA under high salt concentrations, while contaminating RNA and cellular proteinaceous components are removed in the flow-through, and releases the bound DNA under low salt and slightly alkaline conditions. The purified genomic DNA is fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and is completely compatible with downstream applications including PCR and Southern Blot analysis. Typical yields of genomic DNA will vary depending on the cell density of the blood sample. Preparation time for multiple samples is less than 30 minutes.
