Additional Information
Fusing a kinase domain to a homodimerization domain such as the PNT domain of ETV6 can result in activated kinase. The FER Stable Ba/F3 Cell Line expresses activated FER tyrosine kinase that is linked to a GFP reporter (SSBP2-FER in MSCV-GFP). Ba/F3 cells expressing activated tyrosine kinase become completely dependent on the kinase activity for survival.
FER is a member of the FPS/FES family of non-transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinases. It regulates cell-cell adhesion and mediates signaling from the cell surface to the cytoskeleton via growth factor receptors.
