How It Works

Why test your cells for Mycoplasma?
Due to its small size, Mycoplasma can be present in your growth media without being visibly detected. This can cause significant errors in your experiments due to its effects on:
- proliferation
- metabolism
- gene synthesis & processing
- adhesion properties
- and more
To safeguard your research, routine monitoring is essential. abm’s Mycoplasma qPCR Detection Kit provides a fast, ultra-sensitive, and reliable solution for regular screening of your cell cultures, helping to maintain data integrity and experimental reproducibility.
Performance Data

Fig.2: Mycoplasma qPCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G240) enables robust low-copy detection with high specificity across a tenfold serial dilution of control mycoplasma DNA (10^9 to 1 copy). A 2% agarose gel analysis revealed a distinct 270 bp band at each dilution point, with signal intensity decreasing proportionally to input copy number. No non-specific amplification or primer-dimer artifacts were detected, confirming the assay’s excellent sensitivity and specificity for low-copy detection.

Fig.3: Mycoplasma qPCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G240) accurately detects mycoplasma contamination. qPCR amplification curves show both the control DNA (Red) and a test sample (Green) positive for mycoplasma. The No Template Control (NTC) remained flat, confirming no background amplification or contamination and demonstrating the assay's high specificity.
