Transcriptome Sequencing for Gene Expression Analysis

RNA-sequencing is able to examine the quantity and sequences of RNA in a sample using next-generation sequencing (NGS). It analyzes the transcriptome, indicating which of the genes encoded in our DNA are turned on or off and to what extent. Our portfolio consists of different sequencing library preparation kits for RNA (RNA-seq) and small RNA (Small RNA-seq).

Total RNA-seq

RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) is used to analyze the quantity, and the sequence of all RNA transcripts present in a sample at any given time, which is often referred as transcriptome. The transcriptome includes all types of RNA, including messenger RNA (mRNA), ribosomal RNA (rRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA) and various non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). The transcriptome represents the genes that are actively being expressed in a cell or tissue, providing a snapshot of cellular function and activity.

Small RNA-seq

The Small RNA-seq product line from BioCat consists of small RNA sequencing library preparation kits based on different technologies. RealSeq’s patented technology uses a single-adapter and circularization strategy whereas Revvity’s system uses an adapter ligation chemistry plus proprietary dimer reduction oligonucleotides.

The portfolio also includes the RiboMarker® RNA Fragmentomics Library Kit. This method detects small RNAs, diverse RNA fragments (including lncRNA, mRNA and tRF/tDR), and selects modifications in a single reaction.
