GenoExplorer™ microRNA labeling kit is designed to label miRNAs and other small RNA molecules for microarray analysis using a simple and highly robust labeling strategy.
It directly labels RNA molecules, resulting in a highly effective and selective labeling method (no enrichment required!) for both animals and plants.

Biotin Labeling of miRNA using the GenoExplorer™ microRNA Labeling Kit from Genosensor (patent pending):
The kit employs a 5’ end ligation approach. This offers greater selectivity in the labeling of RNA since RNA molecules with capped 5’ ends (e.g. intact mRNA) will not be labeled. Therefore total RNA can be used as starting material without any further enrichment. The ligation reaction also ensures that the labeling is uniform in that a single Biotin-labeled adaptor is attached to each RNA molecule with an uncapped 5’end.
Signal detection is performed using a Streptavidin-conjugated fluorescent dye (Cy5 channel), which is also provided in the kit.
Combined with GenoExplorer microRNA chips (see below), you can achieve
* Subfemtamole sensitivity with 10 ug total RNA input
* Specificity of up to 94%
* Detection of less than 2 fold differential miRNA expression
* Uniform labeling and highly reproducible results with CV < 15% between experiments
and > 3 logs of dynamic range on most scanners (eg. Axon, Agilent)
